An old friend from San Francisco invited me to her BBQ/Bday party. Actually I worked with Veronica Torres on the show Latin Eyes. When I moved down to L.A. we tried doing some segments together but it never worked out. Instead we just go to each other's BBq 's every so often. The pic is her hitting the Pinata.

Nieghbor Julie had BBQ today. Invited the same old friends. We were having trouble getting the coals started until we got some lighter fluid.

south central farm is located on 43rd and Alameda in Los Angeles. It's a few acres of land that was once run by the food bank. they let farmers farm small plots of land thier under the condition that once the owner wanted the land back in 15 years that they would vacate the premisis. Well the Owner now wants his land back and the farmers don't want to leave and are protesting. Actually it's not so much the farmers that are protesting but professional protesters. The way I see it. All the farmers are locals and mostly ethnic immigrants where the protesters are famous white tree huggers who are now tree sitting to protest the eviction.

Shot news out in a small community in South East L.A. They were having some sort of celebration where they paid respect to the town virgin which is the doll in the photo.

Governor Swartzenhager came to East Los Angeles today to sign a bill that relates to schools. Other elected officials present were Mayor Villariagosa and Speaker Fabian Nunez. I ran into someone I had met a year ago. (you see back of her head taking a pic of mayor )When shooting the show "Merge" I worked on an episode where two cousins got a vacation at a resort in Laguna Beach, see February 5, 2005.

Did an interview today with Governor Canditate Phil Angeledes. It was at some union rally where they were going to walk the area and spread the word.

Ran a casting session today at Cocalaca studios. Casting director Criag Colvin's place right on Santa Monica Blvd. I like working there because it's within walking distance.

More black and Latino gang violence in South Central. I spent all day hanging out or Staking out this school because rumor had it that there was going to be a riot on cinco de mayo. Nothing really happened.

A very sad day. Today I dropped my pipe, "The Enterprise" and broke it. I've had that pipe for over 7 years. I got it in San Francisco at some head shop on Haight Street when I lived there.

Did a story in South Central L.A. today. The 77th police district. A reporter and I did a ride along with a police sergeant. He took us around showing us all the gang graffitti and where someone had been killed the night before. Latino on Black violence. There was a shrine on the location with candles and all. The mother of the victim was there. When the reporter I was with asked if we could do an interview with her, some Latino woman who was just walking along the street helped her clean up and straighten her shirt and hair. Very touching experience.

today I met the man. I was at the assignment desk at telemundo when we saw that Hulk Hogan was on the Tonight Show. I ran down to the midway and saw the limo waiting to pick him up so I waited around. There were a few youngsters waiting around to see him also. So he came out of the studio with his wife and family. After his family got in the limo it looked like hulk was going to join them. So I yelled out. " Hey Hulk! How about a Photo?". I heard him say "ok" and he came over. the security guard put us In line and I was the first one. So as he came over I stuck out my hand and He grabbed it and we shot the photo.

This is a Chilean restaraunt relatively close to my place called Rincon Chileano. I had gone there once for lunch and had Pastelle de Choclo. Liked it so brought back Jackie and my dad. we didn't have such a good experience this time because it seemed like locals only there.

Latino leaders held a press conferance across the street from MacArthur park. They are calling for employers to support those who choose to do the work boycott.


Went to La Raza radio station to interview radio dj "El Raton" who was talking about the phone calls he'd recieved from people about the work boycott.

Childrens Earth day out in Santa Monica. I went to a kids indoor zoo where the zoo keeper let me into the cage with this wild Bobcat.

Cardinal Mahoney at the Cathedral downtown called for people to go to work. The illigal immigrants were planning a day when no illigal would go to work.

Another pro-illigal-immigrant march. This one consisted of mostly students. was not as big but followed same route up Broadway from 9th street to City hall.

Covered the church service at the Cathedral downtown. The Cardinal had a special blessing for the immigrants.

Went and shot Long Beach Grand Prix for local news. Got there and checked in with press room. Got photo vest and immidiately went track side to shoot for a while. Got a few quick shots of Hugh Heffner for his 80th birthday. sang happy birthday to him. Then made it on the grid for pre-race activities

Jeremiah and I went camping. We drove out to the Portland coast to the Lewis And Clark state park. Although it rained overnight our tent staid dry. Later that day we went into Astoria and found the house that was used in the movie, "The Goonies"

Drove up to Seattle today with Jeremiah. We went downtown and visited the Space Needle. after that we ate lunch in Pike St. Public Market and then went north to Everett where we are staying over night with my Uncle Terry and his family.

This is my good buddy Thadius. We were best buddies to back in San Francisco for several years. He acted as the host of my public access TV show for a couple years as well. When I moved to L.A. he ended up moving to Portland a year later. So since I was in the area I decided to stop by and visit. This is a photo of him outside his house.

Started vacation today. Went to work in the morning and right after got on the road going up north. I'm going to take 2 weeks off and go up to Portland, OR to spend time with my son Jeremiah. this photo was taken along I-5 on my way to my parents house in Sacramento where I'll stay the first night

Big news day today. Today was a protest againts the anti illigal immigrant law going before congress I believe it's ar 4413 or something like that. anyway there was a huge march on downtown L.A. with over half a million participants. I was assigned to a anchor named Rubin who has a news show on Telemundo called "En Contexto". We walked the route with the people. The people went crazy about Rubin treating him like a celebrity and leader of the people. His show is political but covers many immigrantion issues. As we made it through the crowd people would shout out his name and yell Telemundo or En Contexto and cheered him on. There were so many people there, I've litterally never seen so many in my life.

Took my Element in for it's 10,000 check up and oil change in preparation for my upcoming trip to oregon.

L.A. marathon today. I was stationed at mile 25 with one of the talent. we did a few live hits and for the rest of the time I shot runners.

Went to Orange county to shoot interview for Ruben of "En Contexto". Interviewed man who was janitor in North Tower of World Trade Center. He had master key to stairwell doors and helped the firefighters. is rumored to be last person to leave tower alive. He claims there was an explosion in the basement of the tower moments prior to plane hitting the building. Supports idea of conspiracy by U.S. government to bring down the world trade center in order to pass the patriot act and go to war to make big profits in oil and other business investments.

Driving to the Sessions West casting studios I always pass this cadillac mechanic on Ocean Park blvd. today they had a Ghost Busters car on site.

Home explosion in the Downey/Bellflower area. this guy made his own fireworks and would set them off in his nieghborhood. Basically what happened is he dropped a cigarrette in his gun powder and ran to escape the explosion. It blew half his house into the street. His family was still in the house when it happened. They were not injured.

While in west L.A. covering a story on indiginous people running across the country in order to protest anti-immigration i ran into this guy with a rabbit.

Out in Pico Rivera covering the Lupillo Rivera concert. They gave away his truck by way of a drawing. But one of the requirements of the drawing was that you had a license and were a legal resident. It was kind of funny because the first 5 names he called didn't have either.
